• The kick-off of the African Nation's Cup jamboree on January 19, 2013 did not only attracted football lover's in Cameroon to glue their eyes on TV sets to watch other African stars, but it equally prolonged the duration of football euphoria as many fans of indomitable lions abroad had to create time to watch the performance of their icons who failed to make it to the South African rendez-vous.

The French division one league entered its 21st day of play this past weekend. Rennes of Jean II Makoun and Jean Armel Kana-Biyik humiliated SC Bastia by 2 goals to zero. At home, Ajaccio AC forced Valenciennes of Aboubakar Vincent (came off at the 69th minute) and Gaetang Bong to 1-1 tie. Olympique Marseille of Nicolas Nkoulou forcefully defeated Montpellier HSC of Henri Bedimo by 3 goals to 2. Ayew scored twice (at the 14th and 79th minute), while Gignac concluded with a final goal at the 90th minute. This victory shifted Marseille to the 2nd position of the league. Girondins Bordeaux of Landry Nguemo were humiliated at their own back yard by a 0-1 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain. Lille OSC of Aurelien Chedjou also sufferd the same tragedy as they were beaten 0-2 at home by visiting OGC Nice. AS Nancy of Ndy Assembé (on reserve), Moukandjo and Alo'o Efoulou suffered another 1-2 defeat from Toulouse FC.
The Netherland division one league which also returned from recess this weekend, entered its 19th day of play with Heracles Almelo of Willy Overtoom imposing 1-0 against sc Heerenveen. After their one month pre-season camping in Brazil, Ajax Amsterdam of Eyong Enow (came on at the 77th minute) bounced back to punished Feyenoord by 3 goals to zero.
At their fief, Sporting Braga gave a 4-1 baptism of fire to visiting Vitória Setúbal of Albert Meyon Ze after their brilliant performance 9 days ago to make them have a taste of what they did to middle rank juggler Moreirense last weekend.
At home, Schalke 04 of Jöel Matip bounced back from the Christmas break with a 5-4 defeat against Hannover 96 on the 18th day of play.
The Spanish division one league La Liga entered its 20th day of play with Real Sociedad defeating FC Barcelona of Alex Song (on reserve) by 3-2. Messi and Pedro managed to score Barcelona's 2 goals at the 7th and 25th minutes respectively. This was not enough to help them carry the day. While at home, Málaga CF of Idris Carlos Kameni (on reserve) and Fabrice Olinga (not in the line-up) were forced to a 1-1 tie by Celta de Vigo.
